About Afterglow
Afterglow Brewing was established in 2022 in Norfolk by Josh Evans to symbolize innovative beer, community, family, and friends.
After spending over 15 years in the physical therapy field, Josh learned the ins & outs of brewing on a bigger scale and knew it was time to make his dream a reality. What once started as a passion led to the beginnings of Afterglow Brewing.
Founded in the Rail Yard of Norfolk, Virginia, Afterglow is a fun, family-friendly / pet-friendly brewery crafting delicious beers and seltzers in all styles. We brew with state-of-the-art BrewHa equipment from Canada and are the first brewery to use this system in the state of Virginia. We also pride ourselves on recycling our used grain to local farmers in the Hampton Roads area.
We want to create a stress free, family friendly environment that the Hampton Roads community can come enjoy a local craft beer at. We are also looking to cultivate a relaxing work environment where people enjoy coming to work everyday.
Meet the Brewer
Josh Evans
Josh grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia before moving to Hampton Roads in 2007. He currently lives in Norfolk, VA. with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters.
Working in the Physical Therapy field since high school, he decided to make a switch in career paths after finding his love for making beer. The dream started with home brewing and entering local competitions and blossomed into a passion. Winning a couple awards for various beers, along the way, he would always try to make beer that you could not easily find at the grocery store and push the limits a bit .
Josh is a big fan of Dogfish Head brewing and liked to think outside the box when creating his brewing concoctions. Receiving his brewing certificate from Cornell University, Josh began traveling to brew on a commercial scale out of state with friends.
After years of brewing for pleasure and perfecting his craft, Josh is ready to bring his brews to the Hampton Roads community.
